Strawberries & Basil Syrup


1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves


Combine water and sugar in sauce pan. Boil for 5 minutes. Remove from stove . Add chopped fresh basil to simple syrup. Let cool 1 hour or put on fridge for 20 min . When ready to use, strain basil leaves and toss fresh strawberries in syrup.   May be used as dessert or topping on ice cream, pound cake or yogurt.
