Lucky In Love

LaShay & LaDarrius Tie the Knot! August 9, 2014 The couple initially met at the young age of 15 and 16 at Miles College Upward Bound Program where they ironically were crowned Mr & Miss Upward Bound together!  They were destined to be together and didn’t even know it yet. A few years went by and fate finally reconnected them their Sophomore and Junior years of College . She was at Auburn University and he at University of North Alabama, but the couple didn’t let the distance come between them. LaDarrius’ proposed in a very romantic and intimate setting at Georgetown Lake Park in Hoover, AL.  He was about to go off to basic training for the Air Force and he simply told LaShay, “where ever life takes me I want you to go and always be with me and you would do me the honor of being his wife.” Overwhelmed with joy and excitement LaShay started “crying like a baby”. They planned the wedding out to land on their 7th anniversary, with 7 meaning completion and perfection.   The Couple couldn’t wait to finally stand before their family and friends to witness their renewed covenant before God. *Venue: Birmingham Botanical Gardens-http://www.bbgardens.org/index2.php *Florals: CeCe Designs- http://www.cecedesignsllc.com/ *Wedding Planner: Courtney, Invision Events-  http://www.invevents.com/ *Cakes: Jan O’Donnell- https://www.facebook.com/WeddingCakesByJan?fref=ts *Photography: Robert Norris – robertnorrisphoto.com Videography: Main Street Productions- http://www.mainstreetav.com/  ...

Champagne, Sparkles and Chandeliers

Champagne, Sparkles and Chandeliers

As the clock stuck midnight, the Monheit & Maguire wedding celebration was just beginning! Pinetree Country Club was transformed into a magical ballroom full of glitz and glamour making a stunning first impression. The entire ceiling was swagged in white fabric, giving an upscale, intimate feel to the space. Half the room was filled with gorgeous dining tables. Over eight of these,  hung enormous crystal chandeliers with contemporary drum shades, the remaining tables making an equally impressive statement with 40” candelabras. Beneath the centerpiece on each table, a mirror stand was spilling over with white and blush flowers and candles of varied heights. Beautiful silver sequin mesh overlaid taupe metallic linen on the tables, paired with silver chivari chairs and cushions. A white carpet led the way through rows of silver chivari chairs with white cushions to the Chuppah where the vows were to take place. The Chuppah stood on a square white carpeted stage backed with silver drape and decorated with strings of white orchids and crystals. A large crystal chandelier hung down, looking over the bride and groom as they wed. After the ceremony, guests took part in cocktails and appetizers located in two side rooms. Appetizers were served both on a large “floating table” and passed . Guests could choose from an array of decadent items including Smoked Salmon in Edible Asian Spoons, Spring Rolls, Falafel and Meatballs – all in perfect proportions. A large crystal chandelier tiered over the elegant floating table. In the swanky bar area, matching chandeliers lit groupings of silver-draped cocktail tables, while silver spandex linens on highboys added a contemporary note. The bar was decorated with a delicate beaded curtain, and floor-to-ceiling drape around the perimeter was uplit in cobalt blue and magenta. As guests entered the dining room after cocktails and appetizers, they were blown away by the magnificent beauty! Awaiting each guest was a pre-set soup and salad combo that was anything but ordinary. Velvety Carrot Ginger Soup with Spiced Crème Fraiche was served in a martini glass, with an artistically arranged Heirloom Beet and Carrot Salad with a Beet Reduction, Carrot Coulis, and Local Mache Greens. For the entrée, we served Expresso Crusted Beef Tenderloin Medallions with Port Wine-Pomegranate Reduction Sauce & Almond Crusted Seabass with Mango Pico de Gallo over McEwen & Son’s Organic Blue Grit “Cake” and Heirloom Turnips, Sugar Snap Peas, and Edamame. Throughout dinner, the cake stood on an elevated stage adorned with six 17” crystal chandeliers wrapped in white ribbon, and hundreds of individual crystals and white orchids formed a frame. A huge, white dance floor stood beneath the cake stage. The band stage was backed with shining liquid metal fabric and was uplit in blue. The band  led the bride and groom, along with their family and friends, in dancing after dinner. As midnight drew close, wait staff brought out silver party hats, tiaras and champagne – but not in ordinary champagne flutes. Instead, the bubbly was served in miniature bottles with straws. The band started a digital countdown, concluding in explosive bursts from confetti wands! After midnight, the After-Party began! A selection of passed snacks were served to guests. Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwiches, Mini Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, and Lobster Rolls satisfied any remaining appetites and bridged the gap until breakfast. The party continued well into the evening until guests sent the happy couple off with a sparkling good-bye! What a way to start a new year and a new life together. Cheers to Ginny and Patrick! Thank you to all of the amazing vendors who helped make the Monheit / Maguire wedding celebration...

Making Memories with the Maddox’s

Kiley, the second oldest of the four Maddox girls, married Lee Garver at the Maddox’s childhood home. Like her two sisters before her, Kiley turned to Kathy G & Company to help with her catering needs! Kiley was the third Maddox sister in the last two years to get married! She was preceded by her sisters Davis Ann and Mary Lynn. Though all three of these beautiful sisters used, Kathy G & Company, each of their reception menus were uniquely created for each sister’s wants and needs. Kiley put a unique 1920s inspired spin on her wedding. The beautiful bride and her bridesmaids all wore intricately beaded gowns with beautiful drapery. Kiley’s poppy red lips and diamond studded headpiece really pulled the fabulous Gatsby-like wedding day look together. The menu chosen for Kiley and Lee’s special day was elegant and awe-inspiring, just like their wedding. The couple had three amazing stations: Polenta Parmigiana, Tuscan and the main buffet. “The food was fabulous. Our guests talked about how good the food was at each wedding. It was presented beautifully,” said Cindy Maddox, mother of the bride. “After two weddings, we were a little bit at a loss, and she [Natalie; Coordinator for Kathy G & Co] helped us to come up with yet another menu. Every wedding was different, every menu was different, and all were excellent.” The Polenta Parmigiana station had creamy Parmigian Polenta topped with Sautéed Mushrooms and Red Wine Sauce. The station was complete with a chef to sauté the Wild Mushroom with Shallots, Garlic Fresh Herbs Sweet Butter and Marsala Wine on site. The Tuscan Table, located in the family room, served Artichoke and Feta Salad, Assorted Italian Cheeses, Goat Cheese Logs, Grilled Vegitable Crudites with Balsamic Drizzle and Lamb Chop “Lollipops” with Mint Aioli. Fresh Grapes and Strawberries cascaded the table. The main food buffet, placed on the dining room table, consisted of Grilled Chicken Rollups with Avocado, Smoked Gouda and Chipotle Mayo; Beef Tenderloin Kabobs with Red Bell Peppers and Purple Onions with Taziki Sauce, Shrimp Cakes with Creole Aioli; Mini BLT’s with Roma Tomato, Arugula and Apple Smoked Bacon topped with Remoulade; Vidalia Onion and Gruyere Tartlets and Fried Green Tomatoes with Feta, Remoulade and Parsley Flakes. Champagne was served in elegant flutes and passed to guests as they arrived. A black and white checked dance floor, the band and guest tables were placed in the large back yard to create the reception venue.  Strings of lights sparkled as they lit the back yard in soft light. The relaxed yet beautiful backyard created a fun scene for guests to celebrate Kiley and Lee. Kiley and Lee, thank you for letting us be a part of your special day! “…And when its time for the fourth daughter to get married (which I hope is a long time from now), my first call will be to Natalie.” Florist: Atalla Florist Rentals: Special Events Tents Cake: Diane Stewart Photographer: W&E Photographie  ...
