LaShay & LaDarrius Tie the Knot! August 9, 2014 The couple initially met at the young age of 15 and 16 at Miles College Upward Bound Program where they ironically were crowned Mr & Miss Upward Bound together!  They were destined to be together and didn’t even know it yet. A few years went by and fate finally reconnected them their Sophomore and Junior years of College . She was at Auburn University and he at University of North Alabama, but the couple didn’t let the distance come between them. LaDarrius’ proposed in a very romantic and intimate setting at Georgetown Lake Park in Hoover, AL.  He was about to go off to basic training for the Air Force and he simply told LaShay, “where ever life takes me I want you to go and always be with me and you would do me the honor of being his wife.” Overwhelmed with joy and excitement LaShay started “crying like a baby”. More Than Just Weddings

At Kathy G & Company, we are more than a wedding festivities caterer (though that is our specialty!). We also enjoy hosting luncheons, dinners, galas, parties, showers, openings and beyond! The Garden’s Café by Kathy G played host for the Greater Birmingham Women’s Republican Party luncheon. The café was pre-set with Water, Tea, an assortment of Market Fresh Breads and Sweet Cream Butter. The ladies enjoyed Artichoke Chicken Lasagna with a crisp salad of Mixed Greens and Romaine Lettuce with French Feta Cheese, Shaved Red Onion and Cherry Tomatoes. The salads were dressed with Roasted Shallot Vinaigrette. To wrap up the meal, the women savored Chocolate Mousse topped with Whipped Cream. Park Lane by Kathy G also has the pleasure of hosting Business Networking International each week for a networking event that includes both a meeting and luncheon. Though the time and location are standing, the menu by Kathy G & Company varies week to week. Some of the delicious lunch items that BNI has been served include an assortment of Deli Sandwiches, Baked Ziti with Spicy Tomato Sauce, Blackened Chicken over an Angel Hair Pasta Nest with Parmesan Alfredo Sauce and more. Craig and Matthew’s Rehearsal Dinner at the Gardens Café

After rehearsing their “I do’s,” Samford University sweethearts, Craig Kleimeyer and Matthew Culbreth, along with their family and friends, gathered at The Gardens Café by Kathy G for a rehearsal dinner. The beautiful seated, plated dinner was preceded by some Southern inspired, gourmet hors d’oeuvres. The hors d’oeuvres included mini BLT’s with Roma Tomato, Arugula and Apple Smoked Bacon, topped with Remoulade; and Warm Caramelized Onion and Goat Cheese Tarts. The couple’s evening before the wedding dinner began with guests finding a surprise in their seats. Because neither Craig nor Matthew is from Birmingham, the majority of the rehearsal dinner guests were also from out of town. The couple decided to place bags filled with Southern/Alabama inspired treats in each seat. The bags held a bottle of Dreamland BBQ sauce; a State of Alabama shaped cookie with a heart drawn over Birmingham and a jar of local honey. A Garden Salad of Mixed Lettuces with French Feta Cheese, Candied Walnuts, and Tomatoes topped with Red Wine Vinaigrette was the first of three courses. Rehearsal dinner guests were given a choice between three delectable entrees: Pan Seared Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast, Pork Loin or Almond Crusted Tilapia all over Caramelized Onion Mashed Potatoes, Summer Vegetables and Classic Piccata Sauce with Lemon, Parsley and Capers. Chicken Fingers, Mac n’ Cheese and a Fruit Cup were served to the kid attendees. For dessert, place settings alternated between Flourless Chocolate Torte Garnished with Raspberry Coulis and Fresh Raspberries and Strawberry Tiramisu with Fresh Strawberries Coulis, Fresh Whipped Cream and a Strawberry Garnish. Kirby and Ridge’s Garden Wedding

On a beautiful June Sunday, Kirby Cross and Ridge Willcutt exchanged vows at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. The couple was surrounded by natural blooming buds and beautiful pastel arrangements by Fairview Florist. Under a flower covered archway, the couple said, “I do” and walked down a flower bouquet lined isle into a happy future. Immediately following the ceremony, the couple, along with guests, celebrated the marriage with a beautiful indoor / outdoor reception. The Garden’s Café by Kathy G was the perfect spot for the wedding reception. The café both kept guests out of the summer showers (a wedding day sign of good luck) while still providing a covered outdoor option to enjoy the Botanical Gardens! The happy pinks and lavenders in the arrangements and décor mirrored the happy couple’s blissful demeanor. The bride and groom chose a delightful luncheon menu, packed with tasty Kathy G & Company favorites! Chili Glazed Shrimp with Mango Salsa and Smoked Turkey on Orange Muffins with Orange Marmalade gave the menu an organic, summer feel. A selection of savory Mini Tarts were available with topping selections such as Roasted Tomato and Feta, Vidalia Onion and Gruyere, and Spinach and Parmesan. Beef Tenderloin on Assorted Cocktail Rolls with Horseradish Sauce and Pecan Crusted Chicken Tenders with Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce were also on the menu for guests to enjoy. The seasonal fruit display cascaded with ripe Grapes, Pineapple, Honey Dew and assorted Berries of striking summer colors. Kirby and Ridge chose a fun drink selection that included a wide variety for guests to choose from.  The Spa Waters were infused with Lemon, Lime and Orange, and Cucumber and Mint flavors, adding a refreshing, summer twist! Mint Iced Tea, Shirley Temple’s and Kir Royale’s were also served. For the wedding cake, the bride had a cream dot cake adorned with elegant, edible roses. The groom put a spin on the traditional chocolate cake by choosing cupcakes that were marked with a “W” for the couple’s last name. Congratulations, Kirby and Ridge! Melissa and Neil’s Wedding at the Garden’s Cafe by Kathy G

Melissa Hennessy and Neil Dougherty celebrated their wedding on Saturday with a reception at The Garden’s Café by Kathy G. The drum major groom and the head majorette bride at their alma matter Auburn University have been making memories as a couple for years, which was beautifully depicted at their June 29th reception. The couple looked to K.G. Designs and Kathy G. & Co. Catering for the event logistics. K.G. Designs created unique centerpieces that told stories about Melissa and Neil’s experiences as a couple. Each centerpiece, rare and picturesque in its own way, painted a portrait of their lives together and gave a glimpse into their happy future. Soft pink roses, baby’s breath and candlelight surrounded each representation of Melissa and Neil. One centerpiece represented the couple’s trip to Ireland where they collected souvenirs that were used in the centerpiece. The Irish fairy tale book, including the story of The Little Mermaid, and the seashells symbolize their expedition and the memories made there. To tie this fairy tale wedding together, Melissa and Neil chose a beautiful white cake adorned with light blue, candied roses by Dreamcakes.
