KG Designs and Kathy G & Co. Bring their “A-Game” to Tara & Jason’s Gardens Cafe Wedding

Saturday, April 21 was a glorious day in Birmingham, Alabama.  The sun was shining, the birds were singing and a gorgeous young couple, Tara and Jason, said “I do” in the Hill Garden located in the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.  The setting was perfect for the vibrant garden wedding Tara had always envisioned while the KG Designs team added all the right floral elements utilizing bright oranges along with rich hues of purple and green to pull it all together. On the catering side, Tamara Archer of Kathy G & Company acted at Tara and Jason’s event coordinator for their Gardens Cafe reception – And the results of her tireless work were nothing short of fabulous. The menu consisted of several Kathy G favorites, including a server attended SHRIMP AND GRITS STATION with fresh Gulf Shrimp slow simmered in Creole Sauce and served over Southern Style White Cheddar Grits in a cosmo glass. Other delicious items served to the nearly 175 guests were: Honey Maple Ham on White Cheddar Biscuits with Orange Butter; Pecan-Crusted Chicken Bites with Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce; Kathy G’s famous Mini BLT’s with Apple-Smoked Bacon, Arugula & Roma Tomato Topped with Remoulade Sauce; and Vertical Vegetable Crudite with Dips of Pimento Cheese, Hummus & Ranch. So many great Alabama wedding pros helped this wedding run flawlessly, but we must thank Hali and Micah of H+M Photo for the stunning photos seen in this posting. And we can’t thank Tara and Jason enough for allowing us to play such an integral role in their big day. It was such a magical afternoon… May you live happily ever after!...

Kathy G’s Having Fun With Memes

Posted on Apr 23, 2012 in JUST FOR FUNBLOG, WEDDINGS BLOG

We’re having a little fun at the Kathy G offices today and decided to create a meme or three.  For the unfamiliar, “Meme’ is pronounced as ‘meem’, which rhymes with ‘team.’  According to multi-media marketing experts, the most popular memes influence modern language and culture in big ways. Through the use of humor, they have the ability to influence purchases and shape how the the whole internet user population (particularly 18-34 year-olds) live their lives. And best of all, they’re funny. All that said, here’s our first Kathy G meme. Please let us know what you think in the comments – And don’t forget to share it with your...

Kathy G Catering + KG Designs Floral at Liz & Geoffrey’s Birmingham Zoo Lodge Wedding

Saturday, April 14 was a spectacular day. The sun was shining brightly and the temperature was warm, but not too hot for an outdoor wedding. Liz and Geoffrey couldn’t have picked a better afternoon to invite 50 friends and family to their festive occasion. Dressed in her pink Vera Wang gown, Liz was a vision of beauty and we so very excited to handle both the catering as well as the floral/design elements for her big day! The Birmingham Zoo Lodge is a wonderful venue for weddings.  The impressive outdoor stone fireplace beside the lodge makes for a most romantic spot to say “I do” – especially when a team as skilled as KG Designs handles the floral and décor. Liz, Geoffrey and their guests utilized all three unique Zoo Lodge spaces for their reception.  Many of the delicious Kathy G & Company dishes were offered inside the lodge itself while the expertly manicured lawn that surrounds the lodge was the perfect place for mingling.  Finally, the expansive patio out front was home to for their DJ’s music set-up as well as several highboy tables adorned with baby blue linens, candles, and white flowers. While Andy Hopper and KG Designs did a magnificent job with the florals, enough can’t be said about Kathy G event coordinator, Tamara Archer, and all of her contributions. Tamara worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure their wedding went exactly to plan. And then there was the exceptional menu Tamara created with Liz including such Kathy G specialties as: Honey Maple Ham on White Cheddar Biscuits with Peach Chutney, Mac & Cheddar Cheese Bites, a server-attended Mashed Potato Martini Bar, and a chef-attended Carving Station. Yum!!! Thanks so much to Liz and Geoffrey for allowing us to play such a big role in your amazing Zoo Lodge wedding. May you live happily ever...
