Kristina & Garrett’s Stunning Sonnet House Wedding with Florals & Catering by Kathy G

This summer, Kathy G event coordinator, Mary Jones, and KG Designs’ lead designer, Andy Hopper, had the pleasure of working with the gorgeous Kristina Davidson and her dashing groom, Garrett Hodges – Handling both catering and floral design at their Sonnet House outdoor wedding. Wanting to make certain that everything was perfect, Andy and Kristina collaborated on her floral design for months. She envisioned a “garden chic” feel – Hoping to have blooms that looked as if they’d been picked from the garden earlier that morning. Antique hydrangea, peonies, oakleaf hydrangea, Queen Anne’s Lace, ranunculus, Blizzard and Vendela roses, and Green Dandy cymbidium orchids were used in the bouquets, centerpieces, and reception flowers. Take a look at the magnificent wrought iron cross Andy designed that was used as the focal point for the ceremony. Stunning! Then there was the delicious menu that included: Roast Beef on Homemade Rolls with Horseradish, a Mashed Potato Bar with assorted toppings, Hot Spinach and Gruyère Dip with Tortilla Chips, Stuffed Mushrooms, Crostinis with Mediterranean Toppings, Kathy G’s famous Mini BLTs, as well as a spectacular display of Seasonal Fruit and Cheeses. The Sonnet House is not only lovely and the perfect outdoor setting; they are true professionals at executing their client’s every wish. It is easy to see why they were recently voted “Best Wedding Venue” by Fox 6 Alabama’s viewers. Special thanks to the wedding photo experts at Studio G. The images here are simply stunning and we can’t wait to see all the rest! Finally, huge congratulations and best wishes to our lovely couple, Kristina and Garrett!  May you live happily ever after.    ...

Abbie + Chris Enjoy a Beautiful Fall Wedding at The Sonnet House

Abbie and Chris said “I do” in front of nearly 200 friends and family on October 16, 2011.  Nearly 200 friends and family witnessed the outdoor nuptials under a bright blue sky at spectacular Sonnet House.  The Kathy G team was thrilled to play such a large role in Abbie and Chris’ big day as our team of exceptional chefs would handle all of their catering while KG Designs, our floral/design arm, was responsible for all of their wedding flowers and event design. One of Birmingham’s top wedding planners, Neillie Butler of Mariée Ami, brought this wonderful couple to us and we can’t thank her enough! They were as sweet as they are cute! Abbie and Chris’ afternoon ceremony was fantastic. The weather was warm on this mid-fall afternoon, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, and the only thing brighter than the sun were the smiles on our bride and groom’s faces.  Time and time again, we at Kathy G and company marvel at how fantastic a venue The Sonnet House is… Especially for couples who wish to marry outdoors.  It’s just so charming and romantic while allowing plenty of room for brides to customize with their own floral and design vision. After the ceremony, it was time to party.  Andy Hopper and the KG Designs team did a wonderful job of dressing up immaculate The Sonnet House grounds in rich “fall” flowers with lots of orange, gold, and deep reds with just a splash of purple. Chef, Jason Mezrano, worked with Abbie, Chris, and Neillie to create a menu of hearty hors d’oeuvres that, while filling, also allowed the guests mobility to mix and mingle.  Pecan Crusted Chicken Bites, Sweet Potato Biscuits with Honey Ham and Peach Chutney, Flash-Fried Catfish Cakes with Remoulade, Tomato, Cucumber and Bocconcini Skewers and Vertical Crudites in Mini Pilsners with Herb Dip were just some of the delish offerings. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Kathy G wedding without her famous Mini BLT with Roma Tomato, Apple-Smoked Bacon, Arugula, and Remoulade. Barb’s Cakes did a fantastic job with the couples wedding cake (as usual) while the Kathy G team set up an Ice Cream Sundae Station at the Groom’s Table. It was a wonderful wedding and we’re so happy to have played a role in it, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the other fabulous vendors who helped make the day so special.
